A 6-Week Introduction to Your Voice
Explore breath, resonance, and expression through songs you love.

1:1 Vocal Coaching

This six-week series guided by Allegra Gilfenbaum is an introduction to your voice — a space to explore how it moves, resonates, and expresses itself. Each session combines guided body awareness, playful vocal exploration, and work with songs you love. Designed for adult beginners and available both virtually or in-person.

  • Singing is one of the most direct ways we experience our voice. Many adults love singing but feel hesitant, self-conscious, or unsure where to start.

This series is designed to create a safe, supportive space for exploration. Through guided exercises, body awareness, and work with songs you love, you’ll discover how your voice moves, resonates, and expresses itself — not to achieve perfection, but to notice what’s possible when curiosity and attention guide the process.

Singing can reconnect you to the physical, emotional, and creative parts of yourself, making each session an opportunity to explore your voice in new ways.

  • This series is for adults who enjoy singing and want to reconnect with or explore their voice in a supportive environment.

It’s especially well-suited for people who:

    • Love singing along to music or karaoke but have never taken lessons

    • Sang earlier in life and want to rediscover their voice

    • Are curious about exploring how their voice moves, resonates, and expresses itself

    • Want to experience singing as a playful, embodied practice, not a performance or test

No previous training is required — just curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to explore.

  • Over six weeks we explore some of the fundamental elements of the voice:

    Breath & Voice

Breath is the material of singing. We explore how working with the breath creates the foundation for healthy, supported, and flexible sound.

    Resonance & Vibration

Exploring how sound vibrates and travels through different spaces in the body, and how sensing these shifts can expand the range of vocal expression.

    Shaping Sound
How vowels and the shape of the mouth influence tone, clarity, and ease in different parts of the voice.

    Range & Freedom

Experimenting with higher, lower, quieter, and louder sounds, letting your voice move naturally through its possibilities.

    Expression in Song

Applying what you’ve explored to the songs you enjoy, using them as a playground for experimentation and expression.

    • Six private 60-minute sessions — each tailored to your voice and curiosity

    • Guided body awareness and vocal exploration to help you feel and notice your sound

    • Exercises and tools you can continue practicing outside of sessions

    • Work with songs you love, integrating discoveries into real music

    • Supportive, playful environment where exploration comes first

Each session is adapted to your voice and interests, so you can explore at your own pace. This course is available both virtually or in-person depending on proximity to Brooklyn, NY.

  • I’m a Brooklyn-based vocal artist and teacher whose work explores the voice as both a physical and expressive instrument.

Drawing on classical vocal training, performance experience, and years of teaching adult beginners, she guides students in discovering greater ease, resonance, and freedom in their voices.

  • "Allegra has a remarkable gift for listening to a student’s unique sound and guiding them toward their full potential. Through her mentorship, I’ve learned that the path to a better voice is ultimately a journey of self-discovery."

Allegra’s six-week private vocal course was a transformative experience. She helped me bridge the gap between physical openness and vocal expression, showing me that singing—much like yoga—requires a free and receptive body. • "I came in with just a curiosity about singing, and what I found was something much deeper… a connection between breath, body, and voice. With Allegra’s guidance, it all became natural, playful, and honestly really joyful."

Allegra creates a safe, relaxed space—online or in person—that really helped me connect with myself and let my expression flow. I came in with just a curiosity about singing, and what I found was something much deeper… a connection between breath, body, and voice. With Allegra’s guidance, it all became natural, playful, and honestly really joyful.

From the gentle pull I felt to sing… Allegra helped me find my voice in a way that felt real and effortless.

  • "Allegra helped me discover there is a voice within that is ready to be heard. This awareness has even impacted me professionally and given me courage to speak up more at work! "

I have always wanted to take singing lessons! What kept me from pursuing singing lessons were limiting beliefs about my vocal ability. From the first lesson, Allegra taught me technique and encouraged me to find joy in my unique voice. What I discovered from taking lessons for almost four months with Allegra is how much I have repressed my voice, and Allegra helped me discover there is a voice within that is ready to be heard. This awareness has even impacted me professionally and given me courage to speak up more at work! Allegra also taught me how to engage my diaphragm to support my breathing, which has immensely transformed how my singing and speaking voice are heard. Allegra is genuine, funny, kind, and a wonderful teacher. She is passionate about music, cares about her students, and knows how to provide feedback in a way that is easy to incorporate. I highly recommend her classes!

  • "Allegra helped me discover how much wisdom my body already holds when it comes to singing and all its facets: how to breathe, how to ground, where to pull from and where to direct the sound."

Allegra helped me discover how much wisdom my body already holds when it comes to singing and all its facets: how to breathe, how to ground, where to pull from and where to direct the sound. Her approach is gentle and oh so effective, her knowledge about the mind body connection and how sound travels within the body helps her immediately recognize what small shifts I need to make in order to access a richer singing voice. She is truly one of the most knowledgeable teachers I've ever had with a holistic approach to singing that really works for me. I would recommend Allegra to anyone looking to go beyond just the technical into a deeper and more connected process, it's well worth it!

  • "Ever since I started voice lessons with Allegra, I am more confident in my own presence and have learned how to breathe and really connect with my body. The lessons are overall fun and she gives me the courage to surprise myself. "

Overall it’s a fun and out of body experience - I do wish the lessons are a little longer because sometimes we have too much fun, but in a way that also brings excitement and connection to the lesson. I’m grateful to have been introduced to her and has so much knowledge and a great soul to be around to add on!

  • "I went from not knowing how to access sounds to recording a full song with confidence! "

Allegra’s Vocal Ease is healing work! Her guidance created a compassionate, safe space where I was able to playfully explore my voice without judgement. This class deepened my awareness of the voice-body connection that I carry beyond our sessions. I went from not knowing how to access sounds to recording a full song with confidence! My life feels richer and more joyful since embarking on my singing journey with Allegra.

  • "Working with Allegra has been ear-opening. She fosters a supportive and warm atmosphere and has shown me so much about myself"

I had long felt alienated from my voice. I enjoyed karaoke for the performance, but the singing was an afterthought. I thought I was non-musical and bad at tone. Working with Allegra has been ear-opening. She fosters a supportive and warm atmosphere and has shown me so much about myself. It's been incredible to discover my voice and that I actually have a really beautiful instrument that I'd never connected to.”

    - Davio Cianci, Chicago, IL

  • "Our work also deepened my understanding of the intertwining of spirit and music, and the voice and body as an expression of spirit"

Through my work with Allegra I learned the true meaning of using my voice, and how the vagus nerve is connected to my vocal cords. This really empowered me to think about how I can use my voice, and singing, to support my overall feeling of having agency and communicating openly with others. Our work also deepened my understanding of the intertwining of spirit and music, and the voice and body as an expression of spirit.
